SITUATION OVERVIEW
1 Strategic Response Plans in the MENA region received US$ 1.03 billion. The largest recipient wasSyria, with US$ 465 million, followed by Iraq with US$ 88.6 million. Yemen recently launched a Flash Appeal requesting $273.7 million. In total, the appeals and SRPs are 17.4% funded with a 82.6% shortfall.
2 The Syrian Response Plan (SRP) and the Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan (3RP) jointly requested US$ 7.43 billion. The total amount received is US$ 1.27 billion (17.1%), which leaves a total shortfall of US$ 6.15 billion (82.6%).
3 Six countries from the MENA region made pledges and contributed funds in 2015 for humanitarian appeals worldwide.The amount totalled US$ 195 million, with contributed funds going to 26 countries. The largest donors were Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait with contributions of over US$ 195 million combined. The largest recipients were Iraq, Mali, Syria and and Lebanon.
4 The Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) distributed funds to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan,
Turkey, Iraq, Egypt and Libya in the MENA region in 2015. The largest recipient was Syria with US$29.9 million followed by Lebanon with US$18 million. Three countries from the MENA region (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and UAE) made contributions or pledges to CERF in 2015
